TED is the convergence of the fields of technology, entertainment and design areas. It was founded in 1984 as a non-profit organization that presents a group of talks from guests that normally don’t have public exposure but that make tremendous contributions to society and improve the world we live in.
Iniciativa Comunitaria, directed by Dr. Vargas Vidot and his “Brega Bien” team, set up the first TED in Puerto Rico under its subsidiary TEDx. One of the guests to speak was Luis Salazar. Luis shared the experience he lived after his accident and how it moved him to get involved in the world of non-profit organizations. He explained how he identified the serious problem in Puerto Rico about receiving rehabilitation services after a brain injury. He finished detailing the difficulties people go through after suffering a brain injury without having the resources to do rehabilitation in the United States.
